Green Rooftops
Little River is a city that has its history and identity6.Thisis an area of low income and religious people. The revitalization proposal is design oriented to the community and how to improve their surroundings in the next 20 years. The strategies proposed are based on five goals to complete in three phases. First, create a mix use development by layers, where the urban center area (D1) will be in the heart of the city, on both sides of the train line, then mix use buildings (T5) that spread away from the center and outside the existing suburbs. Secondly, affordable housing (500-600 of units) for this population that helps control the rising costs in rent in Miami. Third, improve the pedestrian experience by creating wider sidewalks and narrower streets, controlling the speed of traffic and inviting to walk the streets. The pedestrian axis will be oriented by the experience of spaces while they connect courtyards that open as a playground for residents in the inner of the square. Also, it is an opportunity to use the corners to create services by lifting them, since people will use it as a shortcut, or to cover them from the sun and rain. Fourth, the proposal of reactive the rooftops. The roofs in the urban center area will be intended for the city business while the ones in the residential units will serve their inhabitants. Finally, in the last phase of the rehabilitation, it is proposed a co working building that sums up the main characteristics of the city in one lot. The first floor will be raised in the corners of the city to invite the people in as a shortcut to the site, in this areas the amphitheaters can work for urban activities of the area. The green rooftop works as a restaurant during the daytime and a bar at night, bringing life to all levels of the building. This is a flexible structure that allows creating open, small or medium offices, according to the privacy standards required
